Svitzer’s 2024 Annual Report has been released, outlining the company’s performance, financial results, strategic priorities, and focus on safety, sustainability and innovation.

AIMPE joined other maritime and trade unions in Canberra to lobby MPs for stronger offshore WHS laws and to close the safety gap between onshore and offshore workers.

Employment Minister Tony Burke criticised Svitzer’s attempt to terminate its Enterprise Agreement, warning it could cut tug workers’ pay by 40% or more and calling the tactic unfair and against the national interest.

AIMPE, AMOU and MUA members held a national stopwork meeting calling on Svitzer to withdraw its Enterprise Agreement termination application, resume fair bargaining, and stop efforts to reduce tug workers’ pay and conditions.

AIMPE Federal Councillors Evan James and Peter de Szoeke joined an ACTU delegation to Canberra to urge MPs to change the Fair Work Act, highlighting Svitzer’s Enterprise Agreement termination application as a key concern for AIMPE members.
