We stand united

AIMPE supports members through enterprise agreement negotiations, professional representation in disputes, and a National Employment Roster to help connect engineers with job opportunities. AIMPE is also working to build up our network of delegates around the country. We're proud to uphold high professional standards and stand united in strengthening the maritime engineering profession. AIMPE members help achieve these objectives by taking protected industrial action when needed.

Representation & Advocacy

AIMPE endeavours to protect your workplace rights by providing expert support during disciplinary meetings, advocating for fair pay and conditions, and enforcing workplace laws. We also negotiate Enterprise Agreements (EAs) and act on behalf of you, the members to ensure employers meet their obligations. AIMPE also works to improve workplace laws as well as maritime laws and policies.

Higher wages

Joining and participating in your union provides several advantages when fighting for better pay. Enterprise Bargaining is where AIMPE negotiates specific enterprise agreements that typically deliver annual wage increases.  Wage theft recovery is also where AIMPE actively assist members in recouping underpayments and navigating complex industrial relations laws.

Better Conditions

AIMPE endeavours to improve workplace conditions by negotiating Enterprise Agreements (EAs) that legally guarantee pay rates, better rostering, leave entitlements, and safety standards.  Members are also entitled to professional legal representation and income protection in some cases.  AIMPE actively tries to secure better flexible working arrangements and clearly defined rosters.  Members have direct access to legal experts for disputes, unfair dismissals, and workers' compensation claims.

Health & Safety

AIMPE protects workers by enforcing Work Health and Safety (WHS) standards. We ensure your employer assesses risks, eliminates hazards, and respects your right to cease unsafe work. If you have immediate safety concerns, you can elect or contact a workplace Health and Safety Representative (HSR).

Under WHS laws, elected HSRs have the power to issue Provisional Improvement Notices (PINs) and direct workers to cease unsafe work when necessary.  AIMPE officials can enter workplaces to assist HSRs with safety audits, compliance advice, and investigations without prior notice. AIMPE assists in handling reports of workplace bullying, harassment, and severe role overload or stress.
